Journal Entries for 2012-09 Caribbean Cruise-Family (Steven)
OVERALL SUMMARY: This was the first of several Family Trips we have planned. This trip was with Steven, Christine, Cadence (4 yrs) and Brody (2.5 yrs). It was a shorter trip than we usually take, but it was packed full!! The kids kept us really busy!! Seems like we were gone a month!! Everything went smoothly, just like it was supposed to!!

We met at the SNA airport and flew to FLL, Ft. Lauderdale in Florida. We spent 4 nights in a hotel right on the beach to recover from the flight and jet lag. We played on the beach and went to the Everglades for an air boat ride and to see the alligators and sea turtles (Journals #2-4).

Then we boarded Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas (Journal #5). I think this just might be the largest of all the cruise ships. It held 6,100 passengers. They had an ice rink, a wave machine for surfing, a rock climbing wall and a zip line!! There were Ocean Balcony rooms as well as Boardwalk and Central Park Balcony rooms. I couldn't figure this out, so I had to call to find out. The Boardwalk and Central Park Balcony rooms overlooked the interior of the ship because it was open for about 10 floors/decks on the inside the ship. It was amazing!! I'm not sure how many pools it had -- at least 4!! It has 7 "neighborhoods"!!

Our first port of call was Nassau in the Bahamas. We spent the day at the famous Atlantis Hotel and walked all around, especially the aquarium (Journal #6). We had one At Sea Day (Journal #7) and then our next port of call were St. Thomas where we took a taxi to Coki beach and snorkeled off the beach (Journal #8). Then our last port of call was St. Maarten where we had previously arranged to take a boat/snorkeling tour with Captain Alan Charters (Journal #9). Then we had two At Sea days (Journals #10-11).

This was a Dreamworks ship, so we went to the Dreamworks character parade twice and the Dreamworks character breakfast. We got pictures of Cadence and Brody with the Dreamworks characters. We also went to most of the shows, some for the kids and some for adults. Carl and I did some babysitting, so Steven and Christine had some grown-up time. We all had a fantastic time!! We'll have to do this again!!
