Journal Entries for 2010-07 Hamburg
Summary: I flew to Hamburg, Germany.

Tuesday/Wednesday, July 13th/14th (Hamburg-1st night): Carl took me to the airport early Tuesday morning for my 7:45 a.m. flight from Orange County to Hamburg. I got there in time and was getting ready to board, when it was announced that our flight would be delayed 2 hours due to weather in Newark, NJ. I was really worried because I only had 1-1/2 hours to catch my connecting flight to Hamburg. I was able to make alternate arrangements for a flight at 7:30 p.m. (instead of 5:40 p.m.) that went through Frankfurt to Hamburg---just in case. So I could get there, but would be 4 hours later arriving. The people who had already boarded were deplaned. We waited and waited until finally we were allowed to board and finally left about 9:15 a.m.

When we landed in Newark, NJ I had just gotten off the plane when I heard an announcement that they were closing the doors on my flight. Fortunately they also announced the gate because it had changed. I RAN to the plane and barely made it!!! We got into Hamburg only 20 minutes later than scheduled!!! Whew, what a relief. I got some Euros, found the taxis and got a ride to the Boston Hotel.

It was just a short walk to Michael's and Nancy's flat. Their name on the buzzer sure fits in with the other German names. I got there about 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14th.

Michael was able to go into work a little later so he was still there. I got a tour of the flat (it's really great), Michael left for work and Nancy & I went on a Hamburg tour.
